Mental Health First Aid for Public Safety
Mental Health First Aid for Public Safety focuses on the unique experiences and needs of those working in Public Safety and is a valuable resource that can make a difference in their lives, their families’ lives and the communities in which they serve. During this 8-hour training, students learn about the importance of early intervention and how, as first responders, they can intervene in the field and provide direct assistance or defuse crisis to someone who is experiencing a mental health challenge or crisis. This training can help every first responder better serve their communities by giving them critical skills to respond safely and responsibly to situations involving people with mental health or substance use disorders.
In addition to reviewing response to the community, MHFA for Public Safety also incorporates reflection and self-care for ourselves or our co-workers. The statistics for first responders are staggering and this course can help you help yourself, your family member or your co-workers.
