Advanced Swiftwater Rescue Course
Swiftwater and Floodwater Rescue is one of the most dangerous rescue scenarios that many in Public Safety face in America. Each year unnecessary deaths and injuries affect potential rescuers as well as the original victims. As such, many Public Safety Organizations have ensured their staff is ready with basic skills for safety and self-rescue.
Our Advanced Swiftwater provides the next level of training to Fire, Rescue, EMS and others who hold basic skills in Swiftwater or Floodwater safety. Training and education in Advanced Swiftwater skills, to include in-water rescue techniques, advanced rescue equipment and advanced skills enhance safety and reduce risk. This course also covers water related rope operations, water area search techniques and specific rescue skills that build upon basic knowledge and technique all to provide methods to enhance department operations during these Classes culminate with a night water rescue using multiple skills learned in both the classroom and skills sessions. As with other courses, RTS training includes classroom work, videos, modular demonstrations, and hands-on practical scenarios in real life scenarios. Classes are scheduled for 16 hours, over the course of a 2-day weekend, with Saturday providing the night scenario. This provide adequate classroom and realistic scenario time, however, individualized Department courses can be scheduled on roster rotation schedules with advance notice.
